This phrase, which I overheard on the street today in Dun Laoghaire, adds great flourish and emphasis to the standard âyouâre looking very wellâ. You can also be fierce upset or fierce busy in Ireland. In my first week back I am feeling fierce well altogether myself.
Maybe itâs the street where we are staying, ten minutesâ walk from my childhood home and from the sea.
Or the morning we spent on the sea shore, climbing the rocks and looking for crabs.
Being there for my little nephewâs birthday.
My membership card for the Irish Writersâ Centre arriving in the post.
Bumping into old friends at the Sunday market in the park.
Sitting out in the back garden with my mother and knowing that for a change we have time on our side.
Good girl yourself – enjoy your time and don’t worry if you lose the run of yourself. đ
Enjoy your time with your mother and your home. You’re lucky to have both of them still.
Thank you Jane. What you say is very true and distance has made that all the more clear to me.
